I am a qualified Ugandan professional with training at Masters level in Agriculture Extension/Education from Makerere University, Uganda, East Africa. My first degree is in Economics and Rural Economy (MUK, 1989). I posses several academic certificates in the area of Agricultural Sciences, Computer Science, Monitoring and evaluation and general programme management. I have worked with both research and education institutions and conducted researches. I have a wealth of experience after working on full time job for the UN WFP (in the field and in Head Quarters in Rome), FAO (Sierra Leone, Sudan, and Zimbabwe). I have worked for NGOs (CARE International in Uganda); Research institutions (International Center for Tropical Agriculture – CIAT in Uganda) and academic institutions (Makerere University, Uganda). I have served on different missions in several countries in Africa including, Uganda, Sudan, Kenya, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, Zimbabwe, Djibouti, Senegal, and Sierra Leone. In my career, I have grown through different ranks from Research assistant, to deputy project Manager, Project coordinator of complex projects, head of programme. I have managed small to medium and large projects with budgets ranging from US$2millio n to US$15million. I have worked and lived in very insecure locations in Sudan Darfur and Burundi. I have acquired a wealth of experience, knowledge, and skills in development work with government and non-governmental organisations and in direct contact with the target groups. In my different capacities, I was responsible for project cycle management, planning, budgeting, procurement, organisation, monitoring and evaluation and reporting. I have experience in the participatory development of strategies, programmes and projects with government institutions, NGOs and professional organisations and in collaboration with other donors, contract negotiations with Implementing Partners and have taken an active role in donor coordination. I am also well acquainted with administrative procedures including procurement and disbursement of various institutions and also the management of large teams. I have good knowledge of the programming requirements for most donors like DFID, USAID, ECHO, EU and OFDA. I have prepared proposals and implemented several projects funded by different donors. I am familiar with the monitoring and evaluation standards of several donors and have participated in evaluation missions of projects that are funded by USAID, OFDA, and ECHO. While with FAO Zimbabwe I was involved with implementation of projects funded by OFDA, DFID (PRP), ECHO and the South African Government. I prepared M&E plans for most of these projects. My detailed knowledge of the African social, cultural, political and agricultural environment, the specific experience and approaches of FAO combined with the diversity of tasks in my present and in past positions together with a cooperative leadership style, working in a team, a high social competence, and my ability to adapt to difficult conditions enable me to carry out complex and demanding jobs.
