About
The Council for Migration (RfM) is a nationwide association of around 190 scientists from various disciplines who research migration and integration issues. The Council sees its central task as critically monitoring political decisions and public debates on migration, integration and asylum. The researchers work together in six sections : “Education and Language”, “Gender and Sexuality”, “Religion”, “Post-Migrant Society”, “City and Region”, and “Migration, Flight and the European Border Regime”.
The Council for Migration (RfM) expresses itself in statements, publications and media contributions on current developments in the areas of migration and integration. The RfM organizes its annual conference at regular intervals, in 2019 on the subject of “ Language · Power · Education ” in Berlin. In September 2017, the Council for Migration issued a manifesto calling for a radical change of course in immigration and refugee policy. In the manifesto, the Council presents four guidelines for a sustainable immigration policy and makes demands in the areas of integration, flight and forced migration.
The Council for Migration was founded in 1998 (to history ), its office is in Berlin. The RfM is funded by the Freudenberg Foundation . He is the project manager of the media service integration , a service for media professionals and interested multipliers in the areas of migration, integration and asylum. The Media Service Integration works closely with scientists with the aim of contributing to a factual and multifaceted debate on migration and integration in Germany.
