Hope and Development Charity (HDC) is a community-rooted humanitarian organization in Sudan, born from a simple but powerful idea: no one should be left without support in times of crisis. What began as a small community kitchen has grown into a trusted local charity working to restore dignity, resilience, and hope for vulnerable families affected by conflict, displacement, and poverty.
HDC focuses on life-saving and early recovery interventions, including food assistance, community kitchens, emergency dignity and hygiene kits, child protection, education support, and livelihoods initiatives. We prioritize women, children, displaced families, and people with special needs, ensuring that assistance is inclusive, impartial, and responsive to real community needs.
Our strength lies in deep community engagement. We work closely with local leaders, volunteers, and affected communities to understand priorities, manage expectations, and design culturally sensitive solutions. Transparency, accountability, and respect for local values guide every intervention we implement.
Beyond immediate relief, HDC is committed to long-term impact. We support pathways to self-reliance by helping individuals rediscover their skills, develop new talents, and reconnect with the workforce—because dignity comes not only from receiving aid, but from rebuilding one’s future.
Hope and Development Charity stands with communities in Sudan—not just to respond to crises, but to walk with them toward recovery, opportunity, and lasting hope.
The ongoing crisis in Sudan has severely affected communities in Khartoum, leaving thousands of families facing food insecurity, loss of livelihoods, and limited access to basic services. Women, children, displaced households, and vulnerable individuals are among the most impacted, struggling to meet their daily needs with dignity.
Hope and Development Charity (HDC) proposes a community-based humanitarian project in Khartoum aimed at providing immediate life-saving support while laying foundations for early recovery and resilience. Building on our roots as a community kitchen and our strong local presence, the project will deliver essential assistance in a transparent, inclusive, and culturally sensitive manner.
The intervention will focus on:
• Emergency food and basic needs support for vulnerable households
• Dignity and hygiene assistance for women, girls, and children
• Community engagement and protection-sensitive approaches to ensure aid reaches those most in need
• Early recovery and livelihoods orientation, supporting individuals to rebuild skills, regain confidence, and re-enter the workforce where possible
HDC works closely with community leaders, volunteers, and local networks to identify priorities, manage expectations, and ensure accountability. Our approach emphasizes dignity, participation, and sustainability—moving beyond short-term relief toward restoring hope and self-reliance.
Through this partnership, HDC seeks funding and technical collaboration to scale up its response in Khartoum, reach more vulnerable families, and contribute to stabilizing communities affected by prolonged crisis.
