Thematic focus and Objective
The SOR4D programme is open to all disciplines from the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, health, and life sciences. It particularly encourages interdisciplinary collaboration across research domains where appropriate. Proposals must explicitly aim for systemic and transformative solutions that simultaneously address several of the 17 SDGs. The SOR4D programme funds proposals that address one or several challenges in relation to the four objectives of Switzerland’s International Cooperation Strategy for the 2025–28 period
Proposed thematic interest (indicative):
· Climate and environment -Focus on development that is environmentally friendly and resilient to climate change, and that benefits the disadvantaged group. Swiss IC responded with two complementary approaches: strengthening developing countries' resilience and adaptive capacity, and mitigating greenhouse gases.
v Climate and disaster resilience for people and livelihood: Advance climate adaptation strategies, integrated risk management, and climate services to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable communities and livelihood.
v Healthy ecosystem biodiversity: Promote the conservation, restoration, sustainable management and valorisation of landscapes, and advance Nature-based Solutions to sustain critical services and support people’s resilience and livelihood.
We are open to refining the concept jointly to ensure strong alignment with SOR4D priorities.
