Resist Foundation

Resist Foundation is a charitable non-governmental organization founded in 1967 as a result of the anti-war proclamation – "Call to Resist Illegitimate Authority". It is located in Boston, MA, USA. For over 50 years, Resist has provided grants to grassroots activist organizations and given vital early financing to some of the most influential, persuasive and progressive organizations in the United States, many of which have made their own impact on the world.

Resist upholds people’s movements for justice and freedom. Its team reallocates resources back to those at the cutting edge of progress while expanding their stories of building a better world. The foundation prioritizes the development of relationships within and between advanced communities as well as with other supporting organizations. As a foundation of the people, Resist’s organizational principles are Emergence, Transformative, Accountability and Liberation. Its donor agencies do not just reallocate financial resources, they are also agents of change that support the shaping of a new future. Resist’s core missions include leadership and accountability to communities, providing transformative and effective resource strategies, helping to align emerging strategies with community efforts and working to shift philanthropy into movement building. The establishments that have taken advantage of its efforts represent various grant recipients such as Global Exchange, Third World Newsreel, Black Panther Party, Gay Liberation Front, Clamshell Alliance and others.
