Founded in 1996, the Global Water Partnership ( Global Water Partnership-GWP ) is an intergovernmental organization and network of global action, nonprofit and formed by organizations involved in water management, which promotes, facilitates and supports processes shift towards Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM)
With 20 years of action, GWP has successfully helped to change the dominant sectoral thinking about water, promoting and applying the IWRM approach as an essential strategy to achieve water security and the sustainable development of the regions, the conservation of ecosystems, the alleviation of poverty and the improvement of the quality of life.
Today the network has more than 3000 member organizations worldwide in 183 countries, including government entities at the regional, national and local levels, intergovernmental organizations (IGOs), international, regional and national non-governmental organizations (NGOs), academic and research institutions, private companies, user associations, professional associations, among others.
