UNIDO aims to reduce poverty through sustainable industrial development. We want each country to have the opportunity to develop a growing productive sector, increase its participation in international trade and protect its environment.
Sustainable and inclusive industrial development (ISID) means that:
- All countries achieve a higher level of industrialization in their economies and benefit from the globalization of the markets for industrial goods and services.
- None ceases to benefit from industrial growth, and prosperity is shared between men and women in all countries.
- Broader social and economic growth is sustained within an environmentally sustainable framework.
- The unique knowledge and resources of all the actors relevant to development are combined with the objective of maximizing the development impact of the ISID.
