The objective of the US Embassy in Nepal, founded in 1958 in Kathmandu, is to advance US interests while also serving and protecting US residents in the country. It offers a variety of consular services such as visa and passport processing as well as documentation legalization.
Since the United States officially recognized Nepal in 1947, the two countries have had friendly relations and Nepal has received economic assistance from the United States since 1951.
The US works with Nepal to promote inclusive and effective government, promote political stability and economic growth, reduce the country's reliance on international aid and improve the country's capacity to contribute positively to regional security and the wider global community.
