The Water Resources Department, formerly known as the Irrigation Department, is the government department in the state of Madhya Pradesh in India that is responsible for irrigation and flood control.
The Water Resources Department protects the right of the state of Madhya Pradesh in sharing water from interstate rivers and basins. The Water Resources Department is responsible for the creation and maintenance of irrigation potential through the construction of water resources projects.
The Water Resources Department also performs mitigation efforts in the form of construction and maintenance of flood control works, reservoir operations, and the reconstruction of structures damaged by cyclones and natural disasters. The Water Resources Department is also responsible for the construction, maintenance and regulation of irrigation projects, flood control, and drainage works.
