The Fund was established in 2003 as a non-budgetary institution. Financing is secured through environmental charges and is allocated to legal and natural persons through loans, subsidies, financial aid, and grants. In particular:
loans;
subsidies;
financial aid;
grants.
The user of the Fund’s financial support is, however, obliged to invest his own financial resources in the proposed project.
The main activities covered by the Fund are financing of preparation, development and implementation of programmes, projects and similar undertakings in the fields of:
environmental protection;
waste management;
energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources.
Additionally in the field of energy efficiency:
energy efficiency policy implementation and co-ordination of activities in accordance with Act on Energy End-Use Efficiency;
fund acts as a National Energy Efficiency Agency together with Ministry of Economy.
