Urząd Gminy Damnica (Poland)

The damnica commune is located in the northwestern part of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, in the eastern part of the Słupsk poviat, near the city of Słupsk - the western border of the commune runs only 3 km from the eastern border of the city and a relatively short distance from the Baltic Sea - the northern parts of the commune are in a straight line by about 18 km from the sea shore and borders with 4 communes of the Słupsk poviat:
- from the north with the commune of Głównyczyce,
- from the east with the commune of Potęgowo,
- from the south with the commune of Dębnica Kaszubska,
- from the west with the commune of Słupsk,

The commune covers an area of 16,781 ha, including arable land 10,848 ha (64.6%) and forests 4,888 ha (29.1%). In terms of area, the commune occupies 50 place among 98 local government rural communes of the Pomeranian Voivodeship.

The name of the commune's capital associated with oaks (oak, oak). German name Damnitz from 1485, and from 1756 Hebrondamnitz and in turn reconstructed by the URM commission as Damnica. The village lies less than 20 km from Słupsk, through which great history swept, and characters known from textbooks appeared here more often than in many metropolises. The first written mention of Damnica dates back to 1407. It changed owners quite often in its history. In the 1920s, it was written that the village belonged to Daniel Hebron - an interesting and mysterious figure.

Today (2020) Damnica is inhabited by 1186 inhabitants and is the center of life of the entire commune. Here are all institutions: municipal government, shopping and service centers and larger enterprises.

The commune has 5,940 inhabitants (January 2020), which constitutes 6% of the population of the Słupsk poviat and 0.25% of the population of the Pomeranian voivodship. Against the background of rural communes of the Słupsk poviat, the Damnica commune belongs to the average population density - 35 people / 1 km 2 . Territorial commune is divided into 18 village councils.

The commune's settlement network consists of 27 towns. The largest villages include: Damnica - 1,186 people, Damno - 579 people, Bobrowniki - 570 people and Karzniczka - 325 people. The smallest town is Głodowo, which has 9 people.
