Nové Město pod Smrkem is a North Bohemian town located in the Liberec Region in the Liberec District . The city is located in the northern part of the Jizera Mountains at an altitude of 465 meters; the river Lomnice (a tributary of the Smědá) flows through it . Approximately 3,700 [1] inhabitants live in Nové Město . It lies about four kilometers from the border with Poland . The nearest Polish settlements are the settlements of Ulicko , Gierałtówek , the former town of Pobiedna and the spa resort of Czerniawa-Zdrój . They are part of the municipalities (gmin) Leśna aŚwieradów-Zdrój .
The town has three parts: Hajniště , Ludvíkov pod Smrkem and Nové Město pod Smrkem, it has a library, a museum, an elementary school, a kindergarten, an elementary art school, a Children's and Youth Center, a natural swimming pool, an indoor pool.
