Caritas is a diocesan body that has the task of promoting the witness of love for neighbor in the Christian community and solidarity between people in society. Diocesan Caritas pursues three basic objectives: it works so that the Christian community becomes more and more a place where love for neighbor is truly lived; works, in collaboration with others, so that the civil (and political) community assumes its social responsibilities , with a view to building a more united society; accompanies people, fighting poverty and marginalization, giving answers to needs and suffering, working against injustices and inequalities. Caritas accompanies and follows people who have to face difficult life situations : people in debt, sick or grieving, fatigued people, AIDS patients or HIV positive; women and men who live on the street looking for a roof; those suffering from addictions or mental illnesses; who needs a hot meal; men who struggle to find their place in society; lonely people seeking solace in a phone call; migrants and refugees seeking protection and work in South Tyrol; people who need a second chance after prison; people with special needs and those who accompany them.
