Ministry of Education and Research - Romania

The Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sport, based on the consultation of the other interested institutions and ministries, designs, bases and applies the overall education strategy, sets the objectives of the education system as a whole, as well as the educational objectives on educational levels and profiles (Art. 12 (1), Law on education 84/1995 with subsequent amendments and completions).

The Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sport is organized and functioning according to the law The Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sport, as a specialized body, has the responsibility to develop and apply the educational policy, in accordance with art. 2. The Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sport has the right of initiative and execution in the field of financial policy and human resources in the field of education and collaborates with other ministries involved in the development of education (Art. 140 (1) Education Law 84/1995 with subsequent amendments and completions).

In order to exercise its duties, the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sport constitutes expert structures and relies on consultative bodies, at national level, made up of criteria of professional and moral prestige: the National Council for Education Reform; National Council for the Certification of University Titles, Diplomas and Certificates; National Council for Financing Higher Education; National Council for Financing Pre-university Education; National Council for Scientific Research in Higher Education; National Council of Libraries; National Council for Training and Continuing Education; the national specialized commissions on disciplines and the management structures of the reform programs.
