Description
The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock is the executive body responsible for agricultural production. As per MINAET Executive Decree 37352 of 2012, MAG is a member of the REDD+ Executive Committee.
MAG administers the Programme to Develop Sustainable Agricultural Production (PFPAS) which helps small and medium scale producers make investments to increase their income and the sustainability of their property (particularly in agro-silvo-pastoral systems and protection of catchment areas). PFPAS could contribute to the national REDD+ Strategy or at least will be harmonised with it.
The Soils Law - law 7779 of 1998 - gives MAG the responsibility of preparing national and regional land use maps. This means that MAG is also one of the national institutions with expertise in measurements using remote sensors.
