Description
Şimleu Silvaniei (in Hungarian Szilagysomlyo, in translation Şimleu Sălajului , in Yiddish Shamloya , in German Schomlenmarkt ) is located in the western part of Sălaj county, at a distance of 29 km on the national road DN 1H from Zalău, the residence of Sălaj county. Together with the component rural localities: Bic , Cehei and Pustă , it occupies an area of 62.26 km 2 under Măgura Şimleului , in the hydrographic basin of Crasna .
It is located in the meadow and the second and third terraces of the Crasna Valley, being dominated in the northern part by the crystalline massif of Măgurii Şimleului, the remnant of an old crystalline chain, with the appearance of work and a maximum altitude of 597 m. The pre-mountain hills around the city look like gentle peaks, mostly deforested.
