Description

Catholic Relief Services began working in Sudan in 1978 to help resettle internally displaced Sudanese in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan. In 1982, CRS closed its Khartoum office and moved operations to what is now South Sudan. In 2004, CRS reopened its Sudan country program to respond to the urgent humanitarian crisis in Darfur and to once again assist vulnerable people in the Khartoum area.

CRS is committed to serving more than 900,000 people in Sudan. For those directly affected by conflict or natural disaster, CRS provides life-saving relief. In areas where there is relative stability, CRS recovery and resilience interventions ensure that families can rebuild their lives and communities.
