Ministerio de Acción Social / Ministry of Social Action (Nicaragua)

The Ministry of Social Action (MAS) is created, which will have as its main objective the coordination of the Government's social policy, and the actions derived from them; as well as its due follow-up and evaluation, in order to achieve the improvement of the population's living conditions and the reduction of poverty levels. 

Within the objective indicated in the previous article, the Ministry of Social Action will have the following attributions:

• Prepare proposals for the formulation of the Government's social policy.
• Promote the participation of civil society in the process of social development.
• Facilitate the execution of comprehensive actions for the benefit of vulnerable population groups, such as war victims, the disabled, children in especially difficult circumstances and homeless elderly, seeking self-sustaining solutions where possible.
• Facilitate the execution of intersectoral actions of a regional nature in support of production, infrastructure and social services in the most needy communities.
