Description

The diffusion of swimming through these various fields was conducive to the creation and organization of the profession of Lifeguard. The years 1900 to 1920 initially allowed this profession to play an essential role in the field of rescue and the supervision of bathing and swimming pools, partly under the impetus of the National Rescue Federation.

It was around 1923 that the first swimming teachers graduated from the Fédération Française de Natation et Sauvetage appeared, and for a few years, the two federations would each promote their swimming teacher diplomas until the professionals structure themselves within the Association of Swimming Teachers of France.
