The National Security Office (GNS) has the mission of guaranteeing the security of Classified Information (CI) at the national level and of international organizations to which Portugal is a party, and exercising the role of accreditation authority for natural or legal persons for access and handling of Classified Information, as well as that of the accrediting and supervisory authority of entities that operate within the scope of the State Electronic Certification System — Public Key Infrastructure (SCEE) and of the accrediting entity pursuant to the provisions of the law that regulates the availability and the use of electronic public procurement platforms.
Within the scope of the GNS, the National Cybersecurity Center operates, henceforth called CNCSeg, whose mission is to contribute to the country using cyberspace in a free, reliable and safe way, by promoting the continuous improvement of national cybersecurity and international cooperation.
