Since its establishment, KDVVIZIG has been operating at its current headquarters (1088 Budapest, Rákóczi út 41.), which was the then VITUKI building, its III. located on the first floor. The Authority Department operated at 1 Széna tér and then at 10 József palátin tér until the 1970s, when the directorate received the full right to use the current building. Until December 31, 2003, the board performed the first-level state administration powers, including the authority and supervisory tasks. Initially, the sectional engineering departments dealt with the construction of their own works, the construction of irrigation plants, the organization of the dam and canal guard network, the establishment of regional professional relations, and regional technical tasks.
The activities of the water sector were carried out and are currently carried out in order to create unified water management, to protect the quantity and quality of water, to build and protect the flood protection and inland water protection of the national economic assets. The Central Danube Valley Water Board was also established to implement these tasks and has been working for the realization of this decision for sixty-five years now.
