The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) is responsible for:
the organization, conduct and supervision of electoral and referendum operations;
the electoral census, the development and management of the biometric electoral file;
As such, it is responsible for:
the proper execution of electoral and referendum operations;
the development, management, revision and updating of the biometric electoral file;
the material organization of the elections, the location and composition of the polling stations;
securing election materials and delivering them on time;
the supervision of the collection and transmission of the minutes of the polling stations to the Communal Commissions, communal districts, embassies or consulates of census of the votes;
the centralization of the results, the publication of the provisional results and their transmission to the Constitutional Court for the presidential, legislative and referendum elections;
the centralization of the results, the publication of the provisional results and their transmission to the Intermediate Courts for the local elections;
the training of electoral agents;
informing and sensitizing voters with a view to broad participation in the polls as well as strict compliance with the provisions of the electoral law;
the elaboration of any provision relating to the improvement of the electoral code.
It also ensures compliance with electoral laws and regulations and takes all initiatives and/or provisions contributing to the smooth running of electoral and referendum operations.
It can also call on any resource person whose skills are necessary for its mission.
