The Provincial Council of Teruel, whose acronym is DPT, is the public corporation of a territorial nature whose function is to manage the economic-administrative interests of the province of Teruel. The council is the governing body of the province, promotes and manages its interests, ensures the comprehensive and adequate provision of public services under municipal jurisdiction throughout the territory of the province.
The Provincial Council of Teruel cooperates with the municipalities of the province through economic contributions, through the provincial plans, assistance and technical and legal advice to the municipalities of the province. The subjects on which the aid and assistance falls are basically three: sanitation and environmental control, engineering and urban planning and social welfare.
One of the fundamental functions of the council is to collaborate in the management of municipal activity. The provincial council is made up of, as its governing bodies, the president, one or several vice-presidents, the governing board and the plenary session.
