Under DS 29611 dated June 25, 2008, the National Institute of Agricultural and Forestry Innovation (INIAF) is created as a decentralized entity of public law, with its own legal status, autonomy of administrative, financial, legal and technical management, has assets own and under the supervision of the Ministry of Rural Development and Lands (MDRyT), in charge of research, innovation and accredited in scientific and technological exchange activities at a national and international level, related to agricultural, aquaculture and forestry activities.
It has been created on the basis of the National Seed Program, National Center for Vegetable Seed Production (CNPSH), and the Bolivian System of Agricultural Technology (SIBTA). Later, DS 2454, dated July 15, 2015, expands the powers and products of the INIAF, and the MDRyT in its Sector Plan identifies the INIAF in the following Pillars:
Pillar 4: Scientific and technological sovereignty, goal 3: Technology with knowledge. Result 128. 9 multi-centers of agroecological production linked to the INIAF have been established.
Pillar 6: Productive sovereignty with diversification, with goal 3: Agricultural production with emphasis on community and peasant family agriculture and result No. 158 “The average yield of the main groups of agricultural crops has increased significantly.”
Pillar 8: Food Sovereignty Goal 3: Sovereignty through local food production. Result No. 234, production in the country has been diversified, maintaining the variety of native and local seeds and ecological and organic production.
VISION
“The INIAF is a national and international reference in agricultural, aquaculture and forestry innovation, with an agro-ecosystemic, sustainable, articulate and institutionalized management model, which responds to the qualified demands of the sector, in contribution to public food security policies with sovereignty"
MISSION
The INIAF is the competent and governing national authority of the National Agricultural and Forestry Innovation System – SNIAF, which regulates and executes research, extension, technical assistance, transfer of agricultural, aquaculture and forestry technology, the management of the genetic resources of the agro biodiversity and seed certification services. (DS 2454).
