Planning and Local Development Agency (PDA) emerges from Municipalities Union of Hermel – the provincial authority including the five municipalities of Hermel. PDA is a technical intermediary and a consultative, executive and planning body, working on social and economic reinforcement of local development.
According to local development reinforcement, PDA is working on "Women and youth participation in local development processes", which is a project financed by European Union. It seeks to participate in facing poverty and to realize economic development through Women empowerment and youth support. It works on the development of efficient participation of women and youth in the local developmental processes by building up their participation in social, economic and political aspects.
WYD is a common project between Lebanon (Municipalities Union of Hermel, PDA), Morocco (Women Union UAF) and Italy (Province of Rome). These initiatives addressed to Lebanese and Moroccan women and develop their working skills and their initiative, where they will profit from the development of the local administration. In addition, the Italian partner will bring a special model of his experience in this aspect, to Lebanon and morocco. The establishing of WYD offices in Hermel aims at the effective participation of women and youth in development process by supporting the fulfillment of limited and business, as well as keeping a quota for women, collective consciousness activities, relevant to the equality between genders and other activities relevant to the actual participation of women in local administrations.
