Description

Germany and Bangladesh look back on more than 40 years of successful cooperation. The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has around 260 national personnel and 18 seconded staff in Bangladesh.

On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and other commissioning parties such as the Government of the United Kingdom, the European Commission and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN), GIZ focuses on the following priority areas in Bangladesh:

  • Renewable energy and energy efficiency;
  • Good governance, rule of law, human rights; and
  • Adaptation to climate change in urban areas.

GIZ is working together with the civil society and stakeholders of the public and private sectors to help people living in remote areas by improving access to safe and affordable drinking water, reducing indoor pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.
