About

I’m a Social Development Professional with over 20 years of experience in international development. I’m passionate about making a positive change in the lives of the marginalised and vulnerable through collective efforts to overcome poverty, inequality, human suffering and social injustices. I’m experienced in program management, capacity building/technical support and monitoring and evaluation across sectors. I draw my experience from East and Southern Africa.

I have served as an expert for the Technical Dialogue on Agricultural Finance that was funded on a bilateral basis by the German Government but implemented by GFA/IAK Agrar on the German side and the Land and Agricultural Bank (Land Bank) for South Africa. The focus was in improving financing for land reform beneficiaries and emerging black farmers.

·         I Supported the Land Bank in the development of technical recommendations for policy makers and improved the inter-institutional technical exchange between Land Bank and actors in land management.

·         I Successfully brought on board three big white and black farmers” associations, NGOs, research organizations and government departments to discuss various aspects of land reform in 5 multistakeholder forums

·         I participated in a high-level study tour to Germany for senior government officials to learn from the German model of land reform

·         I facilitated multistakeholder policy dialogues, capacity building workshops, produced papers on best practices from around the world

I previously served as head of the Programme Management Unit (PMU) for the Socio-Economic Justice for All (SEJA) Programme at the Foundation for Human Rights. The programme was funded by theEuropean Unionunder the Sector Budget Support facility to South Africa through the National Treasury and implemented by the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development and the Foundation for Human Rights.

·         Provided leadership to the program team (6 Program managers, 1 grants manager, 12 project officers and 1project administrator)

·         Successfully managed the grant making process and funded more than 200 CSOs

·         Worked collaboratively with Department of Justice and National Treasury where I reported

·         Successfully coordinated the development of a second cycle funding proposal and secured Eur 25 million from the EU

I have also served as the Mozambique Country Representative with American Friends Service Committee (AFSC). I was solely responsible for the operations of the Mozambique country program.

 ·         I successfully managed the country office and received clean audits.

·         I implemented successful humanitarian, WASH and livelihoods programs that benefited more than 100 000 households affected by the RENAMO-FRELIMO Civil war.

·         I successfully managed the change process of localizing the international program by creating a new local organization that took over the operations of the Mozambique program.

My background in public and development management and my experience in international development has prepared me for any work assignment within the sectors that I have worked.
