Mrs. Božič is a proven financial professional with broad experience (23+ years) in corporate finance, investment banking, commercial banking, central banking, insurance, management consulting, and public sector. She has 10+ years of leadership experience in banking and public sector.

Mrs. Božič has extensive knowledge of the legal, regulatory and institutional framework of the Slovenian and EU financial system. Occupying senior management positions in the Financial System Directorate in the Ministry of Finance of Slovenia, she was responsible for implementing legislation framework and supervision model for the Slovenian financial sector while she was also actively involved in the creation of the EU financial regulation. Mrs. Božič has waste experience in administration of relations between the Republic of Slovenia and domestic (as for example Slovenian development bank) as well as international financial institutions (as for example EIB, EBRD, IMF and WB).

Mrs. Božič is experienced banking professional with proven experience in finance and restructuring. As Manager of the Corporate & SME Banking Division at Gorenjska banka, a middle sized privately owned Slovenian bank, she was mainly responsible for coordination of the overall banking business with the corporates and SMEs, including financial planning, financial plan evaluations, and performance improvement plans, as well as restructuring. She was a member of numerous banking committees aimed at preparing efficient restructuring plans for the most important corporate clients. In 2014, Mrs. Božič was involved in preparation and implementation of the restructuring process of Gorenjska banka for the elimination of the prevailing share of internal capital deficit where she was responsible for assisting in preparation and leading the implementation of measures in corporate banking field, including credit process renewal, rationalization, informatization and automatization. She also initiated and led the sales change management process in the corporate banking field. In addition, as Member of the EIB Board of Directors Mrs. Božič was responsible for evaluation and approval of numerous international financing operations.

Mrs. Božič is local strategy expert with extensive experience in state-owned enterprise (SOE) governance, and the key challenges and opportunities of the sector. In 2017-2018, she was involved in preparation of the new legislation proposal on the establishment of the Slovenian Demographic Fund where good knowledge of the existing model of the SOE governance in Slovenia, its main challenges, and international standards and best practices have been of key importance. She was a member of the supervisory boards of two systemically important Slovenian banks in state ownership, and a member of different strategic committees and working groups dealing with the role of the state in the ownership of companies in Slovenia.

Mrs. Božič has extensive experience in financial instruments. In 2016-2017, she was involved in preparation of the feasibility study for the EIB / EFSI financing for international digital infrastructure project. She prepared numerous business plans / feasibility studies and coordinated application preparations for different financing lines offered /intermediated by Slovenian development bank (SID banka), for different Slovene Enterprise Fund (SEF)’s financial products, as well as for Public Agency for Entrepreneurship, Internationalization, Foreign Investments and Technology (SPIRIT)’s public tenders and calls.

Mrs. Božič has broad strategic governance experience gained at the supervisory boards of systemically important Slovenian financial institutions, at the EIB Board of Directors, and at the Council of Experts of the Slovenian Insurance Supervision Agency. Moreover, she acquired strategic overview over the architecture of the EU and the global financial system through the highest professional positions in the Ministry of finance that included a membership in a number of strategic EU committees (EFC, FSC, and EBC) and working groups, and additionally during the International Visitor Leadership Program in the U.S. focused on the U.S. Financial Systems and the Global Economy.

Being a member of the internationally assembled supervisory board (including KBC and EBRD representatives) of the systemically most important Slovenian bank Nova Ljubljanska banka, Mrs. Božič gained extensive experience in international cooperation, negotiations and decision-making processes based on international standards and best practices.

Mrs. Božič has waste leadership experience in commercial banking and public sector. She is effective communicator with excellent planning, organizational and negotiation strengths as well as the ability to lead, reach consensus, established goals, and attain results.

Mrs. Božič holds a Master’s degree in Economics (Business Administration) from the University of Ljubljana. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Ljubljana.
