Adj. Prof. D. A. FLOUDAS
Demetrius Andreas M.-A. Floudas is a high-flying and successful International Legal Adviser & Regulatory Consultant, with 2 decades of experience in two dozen countries and a background in diverse consultancy sectors (Big 4, boutique consultancy firm, Government Advisory, independent consultant). In his career, D. Floudas has completed a broad scope of international consulting assignments in the private and public sectors, including missions in Eastern Europe, North America, and SE Asia. In consequence, he has amassed extensive experience of larger-scale project management (since 1996) worldwide as Team Leader/Deputy/Project Manager. Several successful projects in a large and varied number of countries demonstrate a significant awareness in the process of managing international multi-cultural teams, as well as confirmed organisation skills, along with superb leadership, planning and communication abilities.
On the substantive level, Prof. Floudas possesses over two decades of experience and broad practical involvement with the Strategic, Economic, Legal and Policy Aspects of International Trade, Competition and Law & Justice Reform. More importantly, it should be underlined that his experience is multi-faceted, as it does not simply originate from familiarity with only one narrow outlook of his expertise, but instead encompasses a wealth of professional know-how acquired through his involvement in such matters by means of scholarly research, legal practice, private sector management consultancy and direct-to-government advice.
In particular, D. Floudas has managed some noteworthy and influential large-scale EU-financed projects, having inter alia led the internationally critical and politically sensitive project for the EU-Accession of the Russian Federation to the World Trade Organisation in 2005-2006, as well as the EU-Russia Cooperation Programme - Approximation of Competition Rules 2006-2007. Furthermore, he has undertaken numerous shorter-term EU-funded missions, covering technical assistance and evaluation. He possesses an impressive project management track record, (Team Leader, Russian WTO Accession; Monitored May 2006; Results: A, A, B, B, B. Team Leader, Russian Competition Rules; Monitored Sep 2007; Results: A, B, B, B, B).along with political acumen, intercultural insights, professional astuteness and a cheerful temperament.
In what regards modus operandi, Mr. Floudas can demonstrate excellent knowledge of operations within sensitive political settings in several countries (Cambodia 1994, Macao 1995, Burma 1996, Malaysia 1996, Indonesia 1997, Greece 1998, Sri Lanka 2008, Egypt 2012) as well as substantial appreciation on how to cooperate effectively with top-level government officials (Brunei 1995, Sarawak 1996, Slovakia 2001-2002, Hungary 2002, Russia 2003-2007, Ukraine 2009, Armenia 2011-2014, Greece 2010-2014)
His aspirations to recognised thought leadership are substantiated by the fact that Demetrius Andreas M.-A. Floudas is a Senior Associate at Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge in the UK since 1999, an Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Law of Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University in Kaliningrad, Russian Federation. In 2012-2015, he was appointed Visiting Professor at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). He is a Fellow of the Hellenic Institute of International & Foreign Law, a Member of the British Academy of Experts and an Attorney at the Athens Bar. He was Professor at the Institute for the Development of Financial Markets in Moscow (2008-2011). He holds an LL.B. (summa cum laude) from the University of Athens as well as an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge. Furthermore, he has conducted research for two years at the University of Hannover under the ELPIS (European Legal Practice Integrated Studies) framework.
In addition to his academic pursuits, he has previously served as Of Counsel to the Greek Government, offering advisory on the Privatise-and-Rescue scheme of the Hellenic Railways Company (OSE) and as Adviser to the Deputy Minister of Justice of Armenia, where he was engaged in 2012 to lead a team to revise the country's Civil Code.
