About
Fahad Haider is currently working as a Renewable Energy (RE) Engineer based in Sydney, Australia. His work involves optimising renewable energy generation, implementing Demand Response and improving grid stability. He also runs his own organisation, Eminate, to help underprivileged communities with renewable energy (SDG7). He completed various RE and climate consultancy projects like solar mini-grids, battery system, grid modernisation and so on for development partners such as the World Bank, JICA, UNDP, etc., and was also an RE Educator. He has been fortunate to work with a Nobel Prize winner and world’s top climate scientists, along with experiences in Australia, Bangladesh, Burundi, Denmark, India, Myanmar, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Turkey, Uganda, UAE and USA. Examples of his projects include initiating humanitarian projects in Bangladesh empowering rural, disadvantaged schools with solar and low energy computers (which were presented in three international conferences and had an academic paper published), developing a proposal with an NGO in Papua New Guinea for a “Green Hub” powered by nature-based solutions and clean energy, organising and moderating a climate and energy webinar series with global leaders, and so on. He is also carrying out capacity building sessions on Renewable Energy for organisations from all over the world. More details about his projects can be found in the social media accounts below.
He organised and was panellist in various side-events at UNCC COP28 and COP29 on “Youth, Climate and Energy” (including official UN side-events), in collaboration with the World Bank Group, University of Melbourne, Emory University, Commonwealth Secretariat, International Solar Alliance (ISA) and others.
Fahad is an IRENA Youth Delegate 2025 (including speaker at the Opening Plenary of the IRENA Youth Forum), Global Ambassador for the MTECAP Climate Program (supported by the World Bank), a YECAP Fellow (supported by UNEP), a United People Global (UPG) Sustainability Leader, an Al Sharq Fellow and was a “Global Talent” for UNLEASH. He is also a member of the UN-YOUNGO Energy, Technology Mechanism and NDCs Working Groups, and a member of SDG7 Youth Constituency of UN-MGCY. His value proposition is in bridging the gap between youth, climate and energy. He completed his Masters in Renewable Energy Engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW)/Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in 2019 and BEng from Macquarie University as a full scholarship recipient in 2013.
