About
Deputy Head of Area Office MOPTI/ Mali and resilience coordinator:
• I am working as Deputy Head of area office based in Mopti region/Mali. The area office is covering three sub offices namely Mopti, GAO and Tombouctou. I am overseeing the programme coordination of the resilience activities and emergency response. The main activities are:
- Overseeing programme to support communities to strengthen their production systems (environmental protection, basic agriculture rehabilitation (fish pond, borehole, dyke; water pond, vegetable gardening, trees planting , …and any livelihoods activities identified by communities).
- Assistance to crisis-affected people in targeted areas, including host communities during lean season; refugees and internally displaced persons to meet their basic food and nutrition and nutrition needs during and in the immediate aftermath crisis.
- Assistance to malnourished and vulnerable populations in targeted areas, including children and pregnant and lactating women and girls.
- Assistance to smallholder farmers (particularly women-led groups), have more resilient livelihoods for improved food security and nutrition throughout asset creation.
- Assistance to school-age children to meet the daily basic food and nutrition requirements during the school year.
• As achievement we managed to provide food and nutritional assistance in a regular, coordinated and timely manner to people in Mopti; GAO, Tombouctou and Segou regions. The Area office is supporting over 1 million beneficiaries support trough:
- Seasonal food distribution over 0.8 million beneficiaries and assistance to internal displaced people.
- School feeding, over 200,000 beneficiaries.
- Preventive and curative nutrition services: 50,000 beneficiaries.
- Assistance to vulnerable people to find long-time hunger solution trough Asset creation and support to small holder farmers (over 100,000 beneficiaries).
• Overseeing 25 Cooperating partners implementing WFP programme in collaboration with the field office.
• Strengthened communication and dialogue with WFP cooperating partners, traders, transporters and regional government departments.
• Follow up security situation of the region and sharing on regularly to the country director and advise accordingly the staff.
• Maintained and strengthened working relation with government and other UN agencies; and representing WFP in senior managerial meetings.
