Natural Resources Officer:
• Lead the establishment, development and implementation of all aspects of partnerships with the private sector, civil society and the relevant governmental authorities
• Technical advisor for watershed management and natural resources management (strategic planning, implementation of coordinated micro-watershed management interventions).
• Provide technical expertise and strategic guidance to all NRM components of the project, ensuring quality control of interventions, and support the Project head of component in the coordination of the implementation of planned activities as stipulated in the project document/work plan.
• Lead the identification and initiation of partnership activities, including supporting community livelihood engagements, conservation and restoration activities, behavior change and policy developments providing professional advice to other implementing partners as well as collaborating with important stakeholders.
• Identify the strategic locations for specific interventions (e.g. areas for afforestation, reforestation and agroforestry, contour farming and rain water harvesting practices and establishment of vegetative barriers and other soil and water conservation methods) for soil stabilization and minimization of risks to the catchment.
• Identify, plan through Participatory Rural Appraisal techinics and execute Integrated Watersheds Management and restoration activities like watershed assessments, stake holder consultations and awareness raising.
• Management of the no-regret measures in water catchments areas like soil moisture improvement and water conservation, rehabilitation of degraded water points, agroforestry systems, reduction of surface water run-off, improved Agro-pastoral production techniques, pasture and rangeland management and clean energy initiatives.
• Innovation and knowledge management (testing and evaluating innovative climate resilience approaches – at community and regional levels).
