UNV GENDER SPECIALIST – UNDP PACIFIC OFFICE - UNITED NATIONS SYSTEM
As UNDP Pacific multi-country office Gender Specialist, my role is to advise the UNDP Gender Focal Team on GEWE policies and trends in the Pacific Region and relevant linkages to UNDP programs. I am in charge of providing analysis for formulation of strategies, reports and new projects to the Gender Focal Team, including management, Program Team Leaders, iCOMMs, HR and Procurement Team Leaders, to impleme nt the UNDP Pacific Office Gender Equality Strategy, ensuring that gender and social inclusion of youth and vulnerable groups become a cross-cutting consideration in all program activities. Main activities and responsibilities:
◦ I finalized and I coordinate the implementation of the Gender Seal Action Plan for the Pacific Office in close collaboration with the Gender Focal Team, implementing partners, government stakeholders, CSOs and other UN agencies;
◦ I analyze development trends in the Pacific Region in relation to Gender Equality and Social Inclusion, to inform strategic design and planning, developing gender analysis, briefs and reports. I supported the process of gender mainstreaming in the Pacific CCAs and I developed the gender analysis for the new Multi Country Program Document and ensured TOC and M&R framework mainstreams gender and social inclusion;
◦ I support the drafting of Gender Action Plans for sub-regional, regional and inter-agency initiatives related to gender issues and identify opportunities for cross-cutting initiatives amongst thematic areas such as Justice and Law Enforcement, Blue and Green Economy Development, Climate Change and Resilience building, DRR, Inclusive Governance. In particular, I technically support the implementation of UNDP Fiji Police Support Project Gender Action Plan to build capacity of Sexual Offence Unit to prevent and respond to SGBV;
◦ I developed a gender equality donor funding strategy to mobilize resources and establish a new gender-related portfolio;
◦ I support the implementation of the UNDP Pacific Office Action Plan on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment and Sexual Exploitation and Abuse;
◦ I developed and I coordinate the implementation of the Gender Capacity Development Plan for UNDP Pacific to facilitate GEWE knowledge building and management;
◦ I support the organization of advocacy events and campaigns, in particular during the 16 Days of Activism against GBV and the International Women's Day.
