I am 48 years old and I reside in the Fiji Islands. I have been working in the Tuna Industry for more than 25 years and I have a wide knowledge of the Tuna industry in Fiji, Kiribati, USA and other Pacific Island countries.

During my time of work I have been heavily involved in starting up companies like my current employer Golden Ocean Fish Ltd, Fiji Seafood Marketing in LA and Kiribati Fish Ltd in Kiribati. I have spent 20 years in Golden Ocean Fish Ltd holding the title of Group Sales & Marketing however I basically did everything in the company when we were just starting up until we grew into a multi-million dollar business venture.

I am very knowledgeable in the designing of floor plans, New project management, New product development, training of staff in new Processing plants, Getting certifications of all sorts in the Seafood Industry (HACCP, MSC, BRC, SQF, BSCI, Dolphin Safe) and I would lead Audits for USDFA, EU exports and I know how to maximise yields so I would do all the costing, product tests for all our sales from export to local sales and even to our chain of seafood retail/restaurants. I did most of our procurement (baits, fishing gear, machines, consumable items, laboratory chemicals and test kits). I sit in the Interview panels for the recruitment of Senior Managers.

My main work is Marketing, I have experiences in market access and export requirements for almost all countries. I have established a good network internationally with customers, auditing firms, agencies and NGO that have an interest in the Tuna Industry. I have built very good relationships in the Tuna market mainly in USA, EU countries, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, SE Asia in Fresh Tuna products, Frozen Tuna products, Cannery, Value addition, Pet Food and Fish meals.

I can confidently say that through my hard work as a Marketing Manager I have greatly contributed to where Golden Ocean Group of companies is now. I was the one that the company sent overseas to learn about production, about Value addition, about the usage of machines and to meet with potential clients. I have a lot of experiences in setting up exhibitions in Seafood shows like in Boston, Brussels, Dubai, Hong Kong, Sydney, China and Singapore. I attend all Tuna conferences so I am quite well versed with policies from Sustainable Fishing to combatting illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing to Fish Safety, Traceability and quality assurance to name just a few.

I also have a passion for auditing plants internally as I prioritise quality and usually before any kind of audits in Food Safety, I would do my own audits first before any external auditor comes in and that is why we have never failed any audit.

I am an executive member for Fiji Fishing Industry Association and Women in Fisheries.
