About
Business economist, MBA Tech, businesswoman, and researcher. Co-founder of NEXT Latam in El Salvador and Panama, a digital industry consulting company. She is a senior international consultant in government and digital economy, and development leveraged by technologies.
With over 15 years in the ICT industry, Iris has a prestigious track record in the Central American digital ecosystem. Before founding her company, Iris worked on e-government and business technological innovation projects for organizations such as the Organization of American States as an Electronic Government Liaison Officer, the Inter-American Development Bank as a Consultant for the implementation of the Productive Transformation Policy in the ICT Sector and the United States Agency for International Development, in the Economic Competitiveness Project leading innovation and technology initiatives for the public and business sectors.
Iris was the first woman leader of the Salvadoran Chamber of Information and Communications Technologies. Among other recognitions, she is TedXSpeaker (TedxAntiguoCuscatlan), fellow of the SEGIB Ibero-American Public Leadership Program (Madrid, Spain), Fellow of the OAS Open Government Program (Washington DC, USA), guest speaker at the Korea-Business Forum Latin America (Seoul, Korea), Fellow of the Regional Information Society Dialogue (DIRSI) and fellow of the Professional Fellows Program of the US Department of State (Washington DC, USA).
She has been Director of the Federation of ICT Entities of LAC, Spain, and Portugal, and has been a member of the Tutor Staff of the OAS School of Government since 2016. She has various publications on the digital economy, e-government, and open data public policies for development.
She participates as a technical researcher for the preparation of an evaluation study of the digital ecosystem in Central America for organizations such as USAID, UNDP, and the EU DG INTPA, as well as a senior researcher for the global and regional open data barometers of the World Wide Web Foundation.
She is a founding member of FUSADES, a member of the Global Chamber, and the Panamanian Association of Business Executives. She is a member of the EU-LAC Digital for Development Hub (D4D).
Summa Magazine and Strategy and Business Magazine recognized her as one of the most powerful and leading women in the region in 2021-2022. In 2024, she obtained recognition from the Salvadoran Association of Industrialists for her contributions to the digital sector.
