Has conducted numerous missions to support governance in Asia, the Middle East and Africa, including leading teams for capacity building and democratic processes. In Morocco, worked with Parliamentary committee chairpersons to improve their effectiveness. In Yemen and Algiers, worked directly with political representatives to improve constituency relations. In Ethiopia, trained the Parliament’s newly established Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on general principles of legislative oversight, its role in ensuring accountability and transparency and protecting the public interest. Represented the Canadian government at international business forums and conventions, including leading trade and parliamentary delegations to various parts of the world. As the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for International Trade, guided An Act to Implement the Agreement Establishing the World Trade Organization through Parliament, successfully meeting the deadline for implementation and ensuring Canada took its place as founding member of the World Trade Organization. In Yemen and Algiers, worked directly with political representatives to improve constituency relations. In Bahrain worked directly with the Staff of the lower and upper house on need to establish institutional strategic plans. Served in local government positions of Deputy Mayor and City Councilor in the City of Ottawa. Has held leadership positions as board member of numerous public and private organizations. Has held leadership positions in numerous parliamentary associations, notably the Interparliamentary Union, and a member of the Jordan, Tunisia, and Pakistan Parliamentary Associations.
