Philip is a Programme Management, policy and legislative specialist on human rights and extractives sector governance and anti-money laundering, countering financing of terrorism. Currently an independent consultant. He formerly coordinated for several years Transparency International Kenya’s Social Justice and Economic Accountability Programme in the East African Region: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda on the ‘Promoting Domestic Resource Mobilization Project and stemming illicit financial flows in the Sub-Saharan Africa Project’ supported by the Africa Economic Justice Program, Embassy of Sweden. He also managed several projects on income and wealth inequality, public debt, tax incentives and tax evasion, asset recovery, de-risking, financial action task force processes and the role of civil society in these processes and was a member of the anti-corruption working group of the UN Global Compact Kenya, National working group on anti-money laundering, countering financing of terrorism and on steering committee of ‘Okoa Uchumi campaign in Kenya’. Philip also previously worked at Peoples Advice Centre as a project manager/director for ten years on human rights issues relating to homelessness, refugees and asylum seekers and domestic violence. Philip formerly taught Company and Commercial Law at the Kenya School of Law Paralegal Diploma Course, town campus and Land Law and Conveyancing at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Karen campus.

An Associate Expert in Environmental Impact Assessment and Audit, National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and Associate Member, Environmental Institute of Kenya (EIK). He co-authored with Emma de Costa, formerly of International Seniors Lawyers Project USA and Samuel Kimeu formerly of Transparency International Kenya and won a chapter ‘Does strategic litigation deliver justice to communities’ in a book yet to be published by Oxfam International and University of Nairobi. He holds a certificate in promoting and protecting human rights- a global overview and was a recipient of the ‘‘Amartya Sen Essay Competition Prize 2020’’ entitled ‘‘Illicit Financial Flows and the Extractives sector on the African Continent’’: Impacts, enabling factors and proposed reform measures’’ organised by Global Financial Integrity, USA and Global Justice Program of Yale University, in honour of Economics Nobel Laurette Professor Amartya Sen published in Academics Stand Against Poverty Journal (2020). He holds a master’s degree in Law (Human Rights) and a bachelor’s degree in Law.
