About
With extensive work experience of more than 32 years in agribusiness and value chain development, climate finance, food and nutrition, and project monitoring and evaluation with bilateral and multilateral agencies in more than 20 countries. Here's a summary of my key accomplishments and experiences:
Co-founding SAI-Sustainable Agro: In 2013, I co-founded 'SAI-Sustainable Agro' in India, with a subsequent branch in the USA in 2019. The organization is dedicated to improving the livelihoods of small and marginal farmers across Asia, Africa and Latin America by implementing a disruptive agro-forestry model while working on agroforestry, carbon credits and finance, and integrated value chain development.
International Chief Technical Adviser to UNDP/GEF and Government of Iran: I played a crucial role in designing and executing the MENARID (Middle East and North Africa Rural Integrated Development) project while serving as the International Chief Technical Adviser to UNDP/GEF and the Government of Iran. My strategic guidance and collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture in Iran contributed to the successful piloting and scaling up of a hybrid development model that combined top-down and bottom-up approaches. This project served as a blueprint for other countries in the MENA region.
UNDP-Asia Pacific Regional Center (UNDP-APRC) Expert: I served as an International Expert on Climate Finance and South-South Cooperation for UNDP-APRC. During this role, I co-developed policy frameworks for the governments of Lao PDR and Bangladesh, with the aim of promoting cooperation among countries in the global South.
I have provided long-term consultancy services to development agencies, including the CARE, IFC/World Bank, European Union Delegations, UNDP, SIDA, SDC, and Trocaire. I have also aerved to IDRC-funded programs in Southeast Asia and contributed as an International Support Team member to the Netherlands government-funded 'Prolinnova' program, which focused on agricultural innovation in 17 countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
I holds triple Post Graduate degrees in Agriculture, Development Planning, and Rural Development from institutions in India, Ireland, and the Netherlands. I further enhanced my knowledge with courses in 'Business & Impact Planning for Social Enterprise' from MIT-USA and 'Sustainable Agriculture and Food Safety' from Wageningen University in the Netherlands.
I have a significant academic footprint, having published 14 books and manuals of international significance.
