I am an electrical / electronic engineer with postgraduate studies and experience in business management. I hold a PhD in power system economic planning from London University and an MBA from Henley Management College. I have over 37 years work experience, of which over 27 years in public administration and utilities sector projects primarily in developing countries funded by Governments, the European Commission, EIB, World Bank, IFC, EBRD, USAID, MCC, AFD, GIZ, KfW, AfDB and other international financing institutions.
I have worked for 6 years for the Electricity Authority of Cyprus, in various engineering and management positions. I have significant energy sector policy, strategy and commercialisation experience in Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, northern and sub-saharan Africa. I have developed positions of enterprises on the liberalisation of the energy market in Greece and Cyprus, within the framework of the 3rd energy liberalisation package. I possess excellent knowledge of the electricity generation, transmission, distribution and exploitation cycle, as well as energy market operations, renewable energy sources and energy efficiency measures.
I have also been responsible in particular for the design, implementation, management, monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment of large technical support and economic development projects, as well as for strategy, organization, operations and information systems and financial advisory services. I have led support to several Ministries, regional administrations, prefectures, local municipalities and other public sector organizations, as well as a large number of private sector organizations.
I have served as member of the Consultancy Committee of the Greek Management Consultants Association (SESMA). I am a member of the EC DG REGIO database of experts for the appraisal, implementation and monitoring of Cohesion policy interventions, and of the EC DG RESEARCH database of experts for the evaluation, monitoring and implementation of the Horizon Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. My experience spans the energy, industry and Information Technology sectors, with extensive expertise in project cycle management, business strategy and entrepreneurship.
