Awarded an Endeavour Executive Award 2007, which enabled 11 of Australia’s top professionals to travel to the Asia-Pacific to enhance their skills and knowledge in their areas of specialisation. This involved a professional development placement for four months with the World Conservation Union (IUCN), working within the Asia Water and Wetlands Policy Programme based in Vientiane, Lao PDR. Specific outcomes included the completion of a review of the status and use of environmental flows across the Asia-Pacific Region for discussion at the first Asia-Pacific Water Summit in Japan, the convening of the Lao National Waters Dialogue and the Cambodia National Waters Dialogue on Water Management and Irrigation, and working on other water resource programmes within the Mekong Region in collaboration with regional Governments, the Mekong River Commission, IFI’s, donors, NGOs and other key stakeholders.
