Unarose Hogan, (MSc, BSc, R.N.) has spent the past seventeen years working in global health security, infection control, academia and clinical practice; primarily living in Sub Saharan Africa but also working in Central and South East Asia and Eastern Europe. Presently she is working as Senior Infectious Disease Advisor with Americares, a health-focused relief and development organization that saves lives and improves health for people affected by poverty or disaster.

From the onset of COVID-19 she worked with WHO’s Health Emergencies Program, focusing on hospital readiness for COVID-19 in the EURO region. Formerly she has worked in several positions with WHO (Albania/ Geneva) and served as Infection Control Advisor for Medical Operations during the Ebola Response with United Nations Mission Emergency Ebola Response (UNMEER, Sierra Leone).

She has previously worked under CDC funded initiatives; most recently spending three years in Vietnam under the CDC-PATH Global Health Security Partnership and formerly with the neglected tropical disease department on a CDC-WHO joint lymphatic filariasis project to update existing guidance.

She has also worked for the German Bilateral GIZ based in Malawi as hospital autonomy advisor, with New York University based in Rwanda as infection control educator and with Irish Aid, Department of Foreign Affairs as global health officer.

Having worked as infection control lecturer in the school of nursing and midwifery at University of East Anglia, UK. She holds an adjunct Faculty position with the school of medicine, University of Limerick on a Master of Public Health. She has published broadly in operational research in low-income countries.

She is a board member at the Irish Global Health Network and has served as expert advisory member on the COVID-19 Global Perinatal Taskforce.
