National Power and Energy Sector Specialist

e.Gen Consultants Ltd. is looking for a Power and Energy Specialist for our Project Management Unit to support us in the implementation of various energy sector projects. We are looking for an electrical engineer with energy sector exposure.

The projects will assess feasibility of floating solar, facilitate collaboration amongst Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka to improve access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy, identify legal and regulatory hurdles in energy sector developments, and bring international best practices in the energy sector to Bangladesh. As Bangladeshi counterparts for the project, we are working on multifocal areas within the energy sector, including on energy efficiency, renewable energy development, power procurement, cross-border electricity trade, and electric vehicles, among others.

The requirements for the individual include:

• Minimum Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or related field, or Bachelor’s in related field with a Master’s in Finance or similar. Ph.D. holder will be preferred.
• 8-   10 years of experience in the energy sector. Experience in renewable energy, energy efficiency, or other flourishing fields within the energy sector will be preferred.
• Previous private sector engagement work experience is expected.
• Has experience in project preparation work, including in legal and procurement related activities.
• Excellent people skills. Past experience in conducting consultation with government agencies will be preferred.
• Has an understanding of energy finance, cross-border energy trade, and other related energy sector niches.

The specialist will be conducting the following activities:

• Desk research on upcoming energy sector developments and best practices.
• Stakeholder consultation and liaison with power sector government agencies such as the BPDB, SREDA, Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, etc.
• Presenting findings to international consultants.
• Producing write-ups, white papers and case study reports on findings from desk research and consultative activities.
• Conducting training needs assessment based on surveys and consultation.
• Conducting training and capacity building on various energy sector.
• Preparing project related documents including Terms of References.
