Reports to: Head of Global Development

Salary Category: F-G Specialist/Sr Specialist 

Duty station: Stockholm, Sweden (possible other locations/flexible)

Contract duration: Two years, with potential renewal

Eligibility: All Nationalities

Salary: €3000 - €5,800 base monthly net (cost of living adjustment may apply if decided duty station is in another country)

OVERALL FUNCTION

Partners, donors, and investors represent a powerful force in accelerating the shift to a sustainable management of the world’s water resources. The Engagement and Partnerships Development Specialist (EPDS) will be an integral part of a small team focused on the strategic development and management of relationships with government, development/donor agencies, as well as private sector and foundations. Reporting to the Head of Global Development, this person will coordinate closely with staff and partners across GWP’s internal and external networks to successfully cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of strategic partners that increasingly provides significant support for GWP to carry out its worldwide mission. 

This position is part of the growing Global Development team within the GWP Headquarters in Stockholm. To be successful, the person will demonstrate a strong spirit of collaboration, communicate with trust and transparency, and have a laser focus on achieving results, while building and maintaining durable partnerships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the Global Development Unit to develop a partnership and fundraising strategy and funding pipeline, raise funds and build partnerships with new and existing public sector and government donors, as well as the private sector, investors, and foundations.
  • Contribute to our comprehensive plan to build out GWP's partnership strategy to raise the profile of GWP and its expertise
  • Prepare and support the Head of Global Development and GWP senior staff to be strong representatives with public and private development partners and participate in introductory or follow up meetings, to advance GWP’s profile and diversify the GWP. financial menu.
  • Participate in strategizing for and raising funds, by defining donor engagement goals and creating strategies for achieving results
  • Manage a portfolio of public sector and government donors and private sector funders serving as a liaison and informational contact between GWP and granting agency staff
  • Develop and/or identify, research and evaluate sources of public and private funding, including foundations and corporates as assigned, and provide strategic guidance to programmes on alignment/fit, eligibility, and competitiveness and programme/proposal development
  • Write and produce relevant materials needed to engage partners and donors, including proposals, briefings, reports, and other communications, in close coordination and collaboration with the GWP Communications unit
  • Actively contribute to GWPO and regional network entities as they seek to improve best practices and procedures and develop new cultivation strategies and tools.
  • Provide extensive internal communication with the Global Development unit, program, finance, and administration staff, and at times the Executive team.
  • Develop and maintain strong knowledge of GWP’s global programme work to represent independently and effectively, through both written and oral communications, a wide array of regional, national, and global environmental programmes. 

 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Technical

  • Master’s degree in social or natural science, communications, international development; international relations, sustainability, and/or business administration field.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience within international development cooperation and sustainable development, working with developing partnerships, fundraising and programme development/, with a focus on climate, environmental or water issues.
  • Documented ability to develop strategy and arguments and enable access to leverage an existing global network of key public and private potential partners and donors
  • Broad insights into global opportunities and challenges, and an understanding of global public relations and development cooperation
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated competence in engagement and managing relationships
  • Proven track record in public and/or private sector fundraising (within the last 3 years) and experience with programme design and proposal development aligned with donor language, priorities, strategies, and interests
  • Fluency in written and spoken English a must, knowledge of other languages preferred

  • E-literacy: Excellent e-skills, including the ability to use modern office technology and related software. Practical knowledge of human resources software and applications is an advantage
  • Personal: A good sense of humor. Willingness to 'get the job' done with a positive attitude to take on a wide range of tasks. Availability for travel as needed.
  • Actively contribute to building a learning culture within GWPO by modeling good learning practices and supporting others in doing so.
