The Program

The Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP) is Australia’s largest and most significant infrastructure investment in the Pacific. This infrastructure initiative is actively engaging with countries in the region to significantly boost Australia's support for infrastructure development in Pacific countries and Timor-Leste. The Facility uses loan funding combined with grants to support the development of high priority, quality infrastructure. The AIFFP Support Unit provides services to the AIFFP in facilitating due diligence for these investments. Tetra Tech works on behalf of the Australian Government to deliver these services.

The Position
The Communications Lead will enhance the visibility and profile of Australia and the AIFFP through proactive multi-media communication campaigns that highlight AIFFP impact, outputs and delivery at both a project and facility level. The Communications Lead will proactively identify opportunities, propose and deliver content to enhance Australia’s visibility in the Pacific infrastructure space. 

In the position, you will also:

  • Deliver the Communications Strategy and Workplan in coordination with the AIFFP communications team.
  • Identify opportunities and write content to promote the AIFFP, and its investments, in relevant newspapers, websites, blogs, op-eds, radio, social media and other channels.
  • Determine the need and produce promotional material for each investment including fact sheets, brochures, promotional videos etc.
  • Support announcements domestically and in the region, (signing ceremonies, events, opening ceremonies, hand-over events etc), this will include drafting media release, social media, speeches, promotional video scripts, etc.
  • Manage the AIFFP’s website including posting content and re-design as necessary.
  • Identify and support opportunities for the AIFFP to participate in outreach opportunities (like key conferences and events) in the sphere of infrastructure, project financing and the Pacific.
  • Develop and deliver Media and Communications plans for individual investments. 
  • Ensure the AIFFP’s branding approach, including visibility and recognition guidelines products, and materials, stays relevant and maximise Australia’s recognition and influence – and guidance is easily accessible for investment teams and proponents. 
  • Design and deliver merchandise that enhances the AIFFP branding and Australian recognition.
  • Work with the AIFFP to support the needs of Australian diplomatic missions in promoting the AIFFP.
  • Work closely with relevant communications contacts within DFAT’s Office of the Pacific, DFAT and others to ensure consistency of messaging. 
  • Manage and deliver the AIFFP’s on-site branding policy.
  • Monitor all activities and report on progress and lessons learned.

The Person

We are looking for someone who has highly developed, proven written communication skills with demonstrated experience providing accurate, high quality public diplomacy material. You will also be a natural when it comes to building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enable consultation, development and socialisation of the AIFFP’s objectives and successes. 

The right person would also have:

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, International Development, or related discipline.
  • Experience in developing and implementing communications plans and strategies, and in the development and management of communications products and digital and social media channels.
  • Experience working within Pacific and Timor-Leste contexts.
  • Experience working flexibly in a cross-cultural, multi-lingual environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience integrating gender, disability, and socially inclusive content in communications for development strategies, plans and materials/products, including in the development of accessible websites.
