Economic and Financial Analyst or Senior Analyst

Location: Washington, D.C.

Do you want to apply your financial analysis and modelling skills to solve the world’s most complex water sector challenges? Challenges such as:

  • Developing financial and regulatory structures to enable water supply in small towns and rapidly urbanizing cities affordably and sustainably
  • Designing tariff structures that meet a water utility’s goal of cost recovery, efficiency, affordability, and simplicity
  • Comprehensive planning to improve the performance of water utilities, ensuring affordable services to all while being sustainable, resilient, and efficient
  • Assessing the financial and economic viability of water and sanitation projects.

Who we’re looking for

Analyst and Senior Analyst Position

  • Undergraduate degree in Economics, Finance, or related discipline
  • Able to pick up concepts and frameworks and apply them in a creative way
  • Strong quantitative skills
  • Knowledge of microeconomics or finance
  • Able to innovate, think laterally, and solve complex problems
  • Proficient skills in the Microsoft suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Willing to travel internationally, subject to COVID restrictions
  • Work authorization in the United States.

We’d love if you have

Analyst and Senior Analyst Position

  • Native-level fluency in English; and fluency in another language: Spanish, French or Arabic; including the ability to synthesize complex issues clearly and concisely in written and spoken English and in another language (Spanish, French or Arabic)
  • Demonstrated progress towards a CFA qualification
  • Graduate degree (MA, MS, and/or MBA) in Economics, Finance, Public Policy, or related discipline
  • Strong grasp of microeconomics
  • Previous professional experience with a relevant organization such as Ministry of Finance, Economy or Planning, a Consulting Firm, or an International Financial Institution
  • Knowledge of and experience in the water and sanitation sector
  • Knowledge of corporate finance, project finance, or financial modelling.

Senior Analyst Position Only

  • Strong grasp of corporate finance, or project finance and how to apply it to projects
  • At least 2-3 years of relevant experience and demonstrated ability to build financial models (financial planning and simulation models which report all three financial statements – Income and Expenditure, Balance sheet and Cash Flow Statement).
