Description

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo, with frequent trips to the project sites.

Welthungerhilfe's (WHH) country programme in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is focusing on humanitarian aid as well as on integrated multi-sectorial development activities within the sectors of agriculture, value chain development, WASH, nutrition and infrastructure. As Expert Programme Coordination you will strengthen projects by implementing nutrition sensitive programming, building partnerships and partners' capacity as well as developing localisation concepts for the multiannual country programme. You will contribute to the general implementation and monitoring of the programme in order to maximise WHH's impact on the basis of WHH's strategy and the relevant concept papers.

Your responsibilities

  • Carry out project planning, monitoring and the project's financial control

  • Identify potential new project partners and ensure active collaboration with partner organisations and their capacity building

  • Monitor the humanitarian situation in DRC

  • Identify lessons learnt from programmes and projects and ensure networking

  • Analyse problems and solutions from field-based interventions

  • Identify, examine and assess (pre-select) new project ideas

  • Coordinate the preparation of internal project documents and ensure the preparation of cost and financing plans 

  • Identify co-financing opportunities and negotiate with donors in agreement with the Country Director, Head of Programme, Emergency Coordinator and Head Office

  • Provide support for evaluations that are organised in-country

  • Contribute to medium-term financial planning for the region

  • Represent Welthungerhilfe vis-à-vis other national and international, governmental and non-governmental stakeholders in agreement with the Head of Programme and the Country Director

Your profile

  • A relevant university/polytechnic degree or training commensurate with this position
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the administration of projects of international (aid) organisations, preferably in the region
  • International humanitarian donor experience would be an asset
  • Coordination and organisational skills - even under a high workload
  • Ability to engage in active and sensitive communication with employees and contacts in a very diverse environment
  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for traveling to Welthungerhilfe's project countries
  • Excellent spoken and written English and French language skills
