Coordination and implementation of activities as well as counselling and training in the field of vocational qualification (vocational training) in Magwi

Location:

Based in Magwi

Duration:

22-month, 400 working days between January 2023 and October 2024

Brief Project description

The project objective is: "The nutritional, economic and psychosocial living conditions of returnees, IDPs and members of host communities are improved".

The project will operate in the two regions of Yei and Magwi.

3 outputs and the following key activities:

Output 1: The capacities of smallholder households are strengthened in terms of agricultural production and nutrition are strengthened.

  • Provision of quality seeds, plants & inputs.
  • Extension and training of smallholder households
  • Nutritional counselling for mothers and other family and community members.

Output 2: The provision of needs-based, gender, context and conflict sensitive qualification measures for returnees, internally displaced persons, and members of host communities host communities, in particular women and youth, in the agricultural sector is improved.

  • (Further) development and implementation of training measures in the field of agriculture and entrepreneurship
  • Technical advisory services for micro-enterprises
  • Implementation of tracing measures

Output 3: Governmental and non-governmental local actors have improved capacity to provide psychosocial support to IDPs, returnees and the vulnerable host population.

  • Train implementing partners on the psychosocial approach.
  • Train core staff and trusted members of local communities in psychosocial support
  • Implement specific psychosocial services
  • Awareness raising to reduce stigma

The aim of this new technical cooperation project is to

1) increase the production, diversity and quality of food and to provide advice on improved nutrition,
2) implement education and qualification measures to improve the opportunities of young adults to generate income and strengthen their everyday resilience. Furthermore,
3) increase the well-being of local people through psychosocial offers in the context of violence, flight and lack of perspective.

Qualifications:

·          Education: University degree (diploma/master's degree) in nutritional sciences, agronomy, agriculture or a similarly relevant technical course of study.

·          Language:

§  Language proficiency in English, C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

§  Language skills in Arabic C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;

·          General work experience:

§  10 years of professional experience in the field of vocational education and training in contexts of fragility and flight,

§  5 years in the field of promoting entrepreneurship in contexts of fragility and flight;

·          Specific professional experience: 10 years of professional experience in the development of vocational training offers with focus on conception and implementation of demand-oriented offers especially in the agricultural sector; (3 points out of possible 10 points).

·          Other: 2 years of experience in the implementation of training for professional and managerial staff at training centres or in the private sector.

Tasks: (ToR on request)

·          Development of an operational plan and ongoing updating of a concrete Action plan based on the results of the analyses to be carried out at the training centre in Yei

·          Organising and coordinating the implementation of a labour market and needs analysis on qualification requirements in the field of agriculture and entrepreneurship as well as the comparison of the results with the already existing qualification offers of other actors on site

·          Organisation and coordination of the development of qualification offers together with the partners on the basis of identified needs and their integration into the offer of the training centre, close content-related consultation with the responsible staff for Output 1 (on qualification needs in the field of agriculture) Output 3 (on linking with psychosocial support services)

·          Organisation and coordination of the development and implementation of training courses for technical and managerial staff of the training centre.

·          Monitoring and evaluation of the implementation process of planned activities (incl. ensuring retention studies)

·          Regular exchange with the GIZ staff responsible for the project, as well as with partner institutions (including representatives of women's organisations and farmers' associations, and representatives from the private sector, vocational training institutions) and other donors.

·          Planning, control and monitoring of the short-term experts to be deployed

Expert 4 carries out all tasks in close coordination with Expert 3 in order to ensure the most uniform approach and methodology possible at both locations. If possible, planned measures should be implemented in a bundled manner across locations.
