Development, Senior Coordinator

Summary of Position:

Reporting to the Development Manager, the Development Senior Coordinator will play a key role in the oversight and implementation of FoodShare’s quarterly direct mail campaigns and online giving strategies and will additionally support ongoing cultivation and stewardship of one-time, mid-level and monthly donors. This person’s responsibilities include working closely with the Development Manager on corporate/foundation grant proposals, progress reports, fundraising events and donor relations with a focus on engagement opportunities for corporate funders.

Specific Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Individual Giving:

In collaboration with the Development and Communications team, create and execute on quarterly appeals targeting one-time donors and non-solicitation stewardship packages, including creative testing to develop and optimize donor-facing materials
Manage stewardship of active monthly donors and support/implement initiatives to grow monthly donor portfolio
Manage cultivation and stewardship of mid-level donor pool to effectively grow donor portfolio at higher giving levels
Oversee management of and tracking best practices within FoodShare’s Raiser’s Edge database
Collaborate with Communications team to develop digital content/e-solicitations to support appeal campaigns, including identification of target audiences
Lead moves management planning and execution, including initiation and oversight of welcome packages for new donors as part of donor journey mapping
Collaborate with Communications staff to implement digital appeal strategies that include A/B testing and leveraging social media platforms to support philanthropy campaigns through organic and paid content

Foundation Proposals, Corporate Partnerships and Events:

Lead on an assigned portfolio of corporate donors, including preparing proposals/presentations and executing annual funding agreement deliverables
Support Development Manager in coordination and implementation of the annual foundation appeal to portfolio of approximately 50 foundations
Prepare and submit grant applications as directed
Coordinate sponsor/donor engagement opportunities and activities
Provide support to solicit in-kind and cash donations from event sponsors, vendors and prospects as required
Support outreach strategy for third-party hosted fundraiser events
Undertake prospect research to identify new potential funders through various sources, including FoundationSearch and Grant Connect

Administration, Planning & Staff Supervision:

Assist with developing, tracking, and reporting back on the annual fundraising plan and budget
Supervise the Development Coordinator, including reviewing individual work plan and targets, conducting performance reviews and providing day-to-day support
Manage vendor relationships with direct mail supplier, Canada Post and others as required
Track, evaluate and report on fundraising program performance against targets across all campaigns and giving channels
Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

Demonstrated commitment to principles of food justice
Results-oriented individual with strong management skills and high comfort level with a hands-on approach to fund development
3 to 4 years experience in coordinating and leading strategies and relationships that encourage and drive revenue growth
Experience in using customer relationship management (CRM) software such as Raiser’s Edge and/or Salesforce
Minimum of 2 years experience in managing appeal campaigns and digital outreach to achieve revenue targets
Minimum of 2 years experience in securing sponsorships and coordinating sponsorship agreements and deliverables
Ability to manage multiple projects and time-sensitive priorities that are on budget and mission-aligned
Understanding of intersectionality and commitment to working within an anti-oppression/anti-racism framework
Experience with financial management/reporting on assigned projects and events
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
Proficient in a variety of productivity applications such as MS Office Suite and/or Google Workspace
Experience with Google suite and Smartsheet an asset

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary: $61,250.00/year for 37.5 hours per week*
Benefits: 4 weeks of paid vacation, 1-2 weeks paid winter shutdown, 10 paid personal days, 20 paid wellness/sick days per calendar year (pro-rated based on start and end date); extended health benefits with no waiting period*
Contract Type: Full-time, indefinite term
Anticipated Dates: March 2023
Location: Hybrid: Occasional travel (~1x/quarter) to the FoodShare office and other locations is expected until our COVID-19 protocols are lifted.
