The position is to be filled as soon as possible with a contract duration of two years. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany or one of the Programme Countries involved.

As Expert Finance and Processes, you will be responsible for a multi-country program in Welthungerhilfe's (WHH's) French-speaking project countries funded by BMZ. You will be part of the Program Finance and Operations (PFO) team in the Finance Unit. The program covers the countries Burundi, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Haiti, Mali and Niger. In addition, you will replace Heads of Finance on the ground in WHH project countries as needed and requested.

Your responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage program finances in accordance with internal and external regulations
  • Budget set up and budget changes, as well as coordination of budget planning for multi-country programs in FundsPro
  • Ensure timely inputs and updates of financial data in FundsPro
  • Preparation of financial statements and individual/consolidated budget balances including expenditure monitoring
  • Quality review and assurance and preparation of aggregated internal and external financial reports
  • Contact person for the Heads of Finance of the participating country offices regarding financial issues related to the programs
  • Support the Heads of Project with finance data analysis, risk reporting and financial monitoring
  • Support the Head of Project to ensure timely expenditure planning as well as revenue planning of institutional donor contributions (liquidity planning)
  • Support and coordination of internal and external audits and implementation of improvement measures
  • Taking over tasks of an Interim Head of Finance (HoF) in case of temporary HoF vacancies in WHH project countries

Your profile

  • A university/polytechnic degree or completed commercial training in a relevant field such as accounting and/or controlling
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the financial management of programs
  • Experience in the financial management of projects
  • Several years of international experience in financial management is desirable
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and willingness to travel to areas with volatile local conditions
  • Fluency in French and a good command of English is required
