MFR (previously known as MicroFinanza Rating) is a private and independent international rating agency specialized in inclusive and sustainable finance. Our mission is to provide the industry with independent, high-quality ratings and information services, aiming at enhancing transparency, facilitating investments, and promoting best practices worldwide.

MFR is opening a new business line to provide Second Party Opinions (SPOs) on Green, Social and Sustainable Bond frameworks, a very high growth sector. Providing transparency and promoting best practices in environmental and social management has been MFR core business for 20+ years. MFR wants to leverage on its experience to serve a new market segment, composed of investors and large financial service providers issuing green, social and sustainable bonds as an additional funding strategy.

MFR is looking for an Analyst, based in Singapore to join its dynamic and international team of specialists in inclusive and sustainable finance in a new office to open in Singapore.

He/she will report to MFR SSEA Regional Manager based in Manila and closely work with MFR Innovation Director based in France, MFR Energy Analyst based in Italy, and other colleagues with specific expertise in bond issuance evaluations, financial inclusion, social and environmental performance. He/she will perform SPOs as well as other rating and evaluation assignments. He/she will also support MFR marketing strategy to develop this new business line. Training will be ensured internally. An induction training will be offered to the successful candidate at MFR’s HQs in Milan, Italy.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform 8-10 assignments annually, including SPOs (initially also ratings, assessments, certifications). Acquire familiarity with SPO processes, tools, methodologies, including interviews with issuers of thematic bonds (investors or Financial Institutions), drafting of the report, central SPO committee to issue the final opinion.
To assist the SSEA Regional Manager and other relevant MFR staff in building external relations with investors, financial institutions and companies issuing social, sustainable, and green bonds on the Singapore Stock Exchange.
To coordinate with the service company contracted by MFR to set up MFR office in Singapore and manage fiscal and legal matters.

QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent knowledge of English.
Professional degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration or related subjects.
Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience in the field of finance or sustainability related sectors (financial inclusion or green finance are a plus), preferably with an investor or asset manager.
Strong analytical skills; strong command of Microsoft Excel and Office.
Good interpersonal and marketing skills and capacity to successfully build relationships with key stakeholders, in coordination with SSEA Regional Manager.
Willingness and capacity to work independently and proactively.
Strong interest in green and sustainable finance and emerging countries.
Good team working skills.
Good time-management and multitasking skills.
